AOL Launches BigDownload
Does AOL have what it takes to hang with the big boys of gaming journalism? Theyre going to find out. July 2nd, 2008 (1:16pm) - AOL today launched a niche oriented gaming site, bigdownload.com, with an emphasis on the PC platform.
BigDownload will have some big competition attracting readers from established sites such as IGN, GameSpot, and GamersMark (you read that right bitches!). AOL is hoping to leverage the readership of their Jostiq blog, part of AOLs Weblogs network. AOL also has a broader market video game oriented site in GameDaily but that site focuses more on the top 25 games regardless of platform. Much of the content currently available on BigDownload is also available on GameDaily so it will be interesting to see if BigDownload can survive in the shadow of its older sibling.
