GamersMark Now Hiring

August 29th, 2005 (11:51am) - Gamersmark is a website for gamers by gamers and our passion for video games and the video game industry is what fuels us to continue to provide readers with content that is informative and, most importantly, enjoyable. GamersMark first launched in March of 2000 and pursues the goal of becoming a larger site in terms of coverage, content, viewership, and community.

We are currently looking for people to become part of the GamersMark Team in order to help us cover current line-ups of games and consoles.

Open positions include the following:

  • Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS Writer
  • PC Writer
  • PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 Writer
  • PlayStation Portable Writer
  • Sports Writer
  • Xbox and Xbox 360 Writer
  • Content Editor
  • Editorial Specialist
  • News Staff
  • Writers for the site are expected to provide such content as news, reviews, previews, and editorial capacity articles for the site. At least two reviews, previews, or articles are expected to be written a month. We give full creativity to our writers, they can do whatever they want as long as the content of what they have written is appropriate for the site.

    Content Editors will be in charge of checking and editing all reviews, previews, editorials, and possibly news posts. Additionally, they are expected to take up writing duties for the site.

    The position of Sports Writer is to provide reviews and previews of sports simulation video games for the site. Those who take up the position are not limited to only providing content covering sports games for the site and can pursue providing any other coverage for the site that they desire. However, covering sports games is expected to be their main area of work.

    Editorial Specialist consists of writing editorials in an insightful way about the state of games, industry, or a subject of research. News Staff consists of writing, finding, and posting news on the web site along with uploading media. The Graphic Designer will help in the graphical nature of the web site, making feature images and the like.

    All positions are open for crossover into other fields if interest arises.

    Possible benefits of writing for the site include reviewable copies of games, preview copies, entering betas of PC games, going to trade show events such as E3, and more. At this time we do not have any paid positions whatsoever, everyone who is on the staff writes for their own enjoyment.

    Requirements:

  • Must be well-versed in the English language
  • Must have a vast knowledge of the video game industry (or willingness to learn)
  • Must be passionate about video games or events surrounding the video game industry
  • Must be living in the United States of America (exceptions can be made)

  • Records of prior writing experience (not required) – link references are a plus
  • A writing sample to give us an idea of your talents. Must be at least 1,000 words in length and preferred to be a game review, preview, or an editorial capacity article based on a video game-related topic of your choice. This will be your first writing piece to be featured on the web site, so choose something that is unique to do.

    *Having knowledge of html is a plus, as is having programs such as Photoshop or programs like it.
